Arizona promotes student success in advanced math by requiring students to complete Algebra I. To support achievement, the state could require the adoption of HQIM for K-8 and ensure students finish Algebra I by the end of grade 9.
Critical to all principles are the 4 Strands of Math Proficiency in Math Knowledge & Skills.

To become proficient in math, students need to develop mathematical proficiency which is a combination of real-world problem-solving skills, procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and productive dispositions.

Adoption of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM)
Consider policy that requires districts to adopt HQIM from a vetted & approved list aligned to the 4 Strands of Math Proficiency & districts must post adopted HQIM on their website.
