Iowa promotes high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in grades K-8. To strengthen transparency and consistency, the state could provide a state-approved list of HQIM, require districts to adopt from the list and publicly post their selected materials.

To become proficient in math, students need to develop mathematical proficiency which is a combination of real-world problem-solving skills, procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and productive dispositions.
